In addition, their prices are reasonable /lower compared to other tour companies. My family just returned from a European vacation and I spent a great deal of time comparing prices to save some money and Presto Tours saved me quite a bit on the Gladiator Tour of the Colosseum and the Vatican Tour. However, it wasn't just about the savings, the contact person Kristen is exceptional. She responds in a timely manner to emails, considering the time difference, she is personable, answers all questions related to visiting Rome (ie taxi service, weather etc). She genuinely wants you to have a great experience in Italy. This company was referred to me by a friend and also referred one their knowledgeable tour guides, Marina. We requested Marina for our Roman tours and could not have been more satisfied. She is very knowledgable on Roman history, the ruins and Vatican. Marina is very kind, patient and attentive to all the needs of her group. I highly recommend Presto Tours and would not hesitate to book future tours in Italy with this company. read less

It was very pleasant having our own tour guide take us around and answer all the questions we had about the area. Having a personal guide for our small group really gives the opportunity to really feel like you get a personalized experience, with the details that you enjoy most — something that is missing in a typical large group tour. Our guide, Anna, made sure she set up our dining according to our preferences and even helped us make last minute return ferry changes while we strolled around carefree. read less

My boyfriend and I had a private tour for both the Vatican and the colosseum/Roman forum. Kirsten was so communicative with coordinating our reservation and made booking a very smooth process. Marina was the best tour guide we’ve ever had! She is so knowledgeable and knew every answer to our questions. She will make sure you see everything she can possibly show you during your tour. She made sure we had pictures at every single place. Would recommend this tour company to anyone visiting Rome! read less

My husband is a paraplegic confined to a wheelchair and we wanted to ensure that he got to experience all that Rome had to offer. Presto did an amazing job. They kept in constant contact with us leading up to the tours and during our stay. They ensured that we always had a wheelchair accessible meeting place that was easy to find. And our tour guide, Ettore, did an AMAZING job! Our first day we toured the Vatican, Day 2 we did the Street Food Tour, and on Day 3 we toured the Colosseum. Our 4th and final tour was the City tour where we got to see the Spanish Steps, the Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon & The Piazza Novena. Our trip would not have been quite as amazing if we had not booked these private tours. WORTH EVERY PENNY!! read less

My first tour with Presto was in 2010, after which I have continued to refer many folks over the last 9 years. In May, I brought a group of first-time Italia visitors and once again had a WONDERFUL experience with the Vatican Tour, Colosseum tour and Pompeii tour. Kirsten went out of her way to make sure our experience was special and top notch! The tour guides continue to provide insightful, enthusiastic and highly professional tours. Excellent communication skills and ALWAYS taking time to answer all questions thoroughly. Cheers to Presto to continue to provide excellent quality tours!!! I can't recommend them enough!!! read less

My wife has very limited mobility and would have to use an electric scooter to get around for any significant distances. Finally, when we were down to one week before departure, I gave up on them and contacted Presto. Kirsten set us up with several tours in Rome (as well as others in Florence and Venice): the Colosseum (and Forum), the Capitoline Museums, the Borghese Gallery, and Baroque Rome. Our guides - Vincenzo for the Colosseum and Ettore for the rest - were great. They were highly knowledgeable as well as entertaining (two things that don't always go together), so we thoroughly enjoyed being with them. Just as importantly for us, they did an outstanding job of navigating us through the sites and expediting our passage through entrances; my wife was able to participate fully, even though her scooter had to be carried upstairs at the Borghese, for example. Kirsten did a top-notch job of keeping us informed, unlike their competitor. It was a wonderful experience, and it is no exaggeration to say that without Presto's help our Rome excursion would have been a poor thing indeed. read less

... and who has a warm and engaging style. It feels like touring Rome with a friend.
The Trastevere tour visits the 3 main churches in the area, including San Pietro on Janiculum Hill... which offers commanding views of the city. Marina expertly guided us through Trasteveres winding streets, popping into unexpected, off the beaten path sites. We were often the only tourists in these areas. The tour continues into Isla Tiburina and into the Jewish Ghetto.

I’ll make a few comments below specific to what I was looking for but it needs to be highlighted it was an excellent tour with a very knowledgeable guide from a well organised and professional company. We had visited Rome several times and as a bit of a Julius Caesar buff I was looking for a tour that focused on Caesar . This tour was pretty much the only one available. However it wasn’t really what I expected. I was sort of expecting a tour that chronologically detailed Caesars life starting with his childhood and building up to his death and visiting the various sites in Rome where these events occurred.
However the tour was pretty much generalised history of Rome tour with various parts that related to Caesar pointed out along the way. This was probably due to 2 main reasons. One, most people who would take the tour would be upset if they were standing right next to significant piece of Roman history (eg colosseum) and it wasn’t pointed out because the tour was only focusing on Caesar. Secondly, although Rome is very walkable city, it would be difficult to arrange a tour that was chronological as various events like Caesars assassination and his cremation happened at places that which were on the other side of town to each other… So it made more sense to highlight sites as we came across them. It was just that I was looking for a very specific tour about Caesar and this one was a little more general than I expected. A specific example of this was when we were about to leave the forum the guide asked us if there was anything else we wanted to see. I asked if we could see the Domus Publica and also the Curia. These sites would have been important in the Caesar story given his time as a senator and pontifex maximus. But if we hadn’t asked they would not have been included on the tour. In fairness as soon as we asked we got a very detailed and well-informed guided tour of the sites. This is a private tour so it can be tailored to what the client desires and we were able to do this. For example we got to go through the Jewish quarter which really wasn’t related to Caesar but was fascinating and it wasn’t an area of Rome we had seen before. The tour guide is also able to point out specific details that you would miss on your own… For example visiting the site of Caesar’s assassination we were able to be pointed to wards exact location of his murder with in the temple. As I mentioned this is a private tour and the communication from the company was excellent prior to doing the tour so my recommendation would be if you have a keen interest in Caesar then make this known by email before the tour and highlight areas you would really like to see and what you would like to focus on. If you have an interest in Roman history and a passing curiosity about Julius Caesar then this tour in its standard form would be excellent. Again I just want to highlight that the company was very professional and very well organised and the guide was extremely knowledgeable and was willing to adjust the tour on the fly based on what we wanted to see. Highly recommend it
Ps- if you want to brush up on your Caesar facts before doing the tour I would recommend reading “Caesar, Life of a Colossus “ biography of Julius Caesar written by Adrian Goldsworth- available on Amazon read less

We wanted to see three major basilicas- St. Mary Major, St. John Lateran, and St. Paul Outside the Walls- and this tour company was one of the few that offered that combination.
Our tour was a private tour and our guide, Marina, was very knowledgeable about history, art and Catholicism. She had a very nice manner and we enjoyed spending an afternoon with her. She patiently answered all our questions and allowed us to go at our own pace.
There is an option to book a driver for your tour; the other alternative is to take taxis or public transportation from site to site. We opted to add the driver, and it was worth every penny. Our driver, Andrea, arrived early at our hotel in a spotless Mercedes sedan. It was so nice to be driven from site to site, and Andrea was very friendly and kind to us.
